O público brasileiro a conhece pela sitcom "Less Than Perfect", na qual interpretou a melhor amiga da personagem de Sara Rue. Também a conhecemos como a esposa de Tracy Morgan em "30 Rock". Para os americanos, ela é a co-apresentadora do programa "The View". Agora Sherri Shepherd ganha sua própria série que estréia dia 05/10/09 pelo canal americano Lifetime.
Sob o título de "Sherri", a sitcom tem como base a autobiografia da atriz, "Permission Slips: Every Woman´s Guide to Giving Herself a Break", que chega esta semana às livrarias dos EUA. O piloto da série introduz o público à vida de Sherri e sua atual situação, mas com algumas mudanças em relação à vida real da atriz.
Na série ela trabalha em um escritório de advocacia para pagar as contas e faz testes como atriz, tentando entrar no ramo. Sua arquiinimiga é Traci Fabricant (Kym Whitley), que costuma ser pegar os trabalhos para os quais ela faz testes. Em meio a esta correria, ela descobre que seu marido a traiu com outra. Recém divorciada, Sherri tenta encontrar sua outra cara-metade, com a ajuda de suas amigas do escritório.
A sitcom foi originalmente desenvolvida para ser exibida pelo CW, mas quando o canal optou em mudar sua estratégia e abandonar a produção e exibição de sitcoms, preferindo concentrar-se em séries dramáticas, o canal Lifetime, que pertence à ABC, comprou o projeto.
